Squadron Staff...
The staff on the squadron are extremely important, without them the squadron couldn’t function. They make up an effective team to complete jobs, overlook activities, complete paperwork and most of all ensure that the cadets are safe and getting the best out of what the ATC and the squadron has to offer. The staff are made up from uniformed members of staff, some adult NCO’s and some VRT officers, there are also non-uniformed members of staff who work as C.I’s or are part of the Civilian Committee. They all have an important role in the running of an effective sqn.
Flight Lieutenant Steve Woods RAFVR(T) – His role as the squadron commander is to look after the welfare of the cadets and liaise with the staff at wing to finalise activities for the sqn and camps etc. He is head of the team of staff so delegates some of the work onto the other staff members.
Flying Officer Stephen Hall RAFVR(T) – His role as the adjutant is to assist the CO and to step in as CO when needed. He has a very active role in the sqn and is responsible for delivering a lot of the Training Syllabus to the cadets on the sqn. Mr Hall liaises more closely with cadets than the CO and you will often find him at sports events, Catterick and weekend events organised by the squadron.
Flight Lieutenant Elliot RAFVR(T)– His role as the squadron Technical Officer involves keeping the computers running efficeintly aswell as internet security and computer upgrades and maintenance.
Adult Sergeant Richard Bertram ATC – A recent addition to our squadron, transferring from 1869 in August 2005. He has many roles on the squadron, including drill, discipline, managing the NCO team, paperwork, sport, adventure training and sqn webmaster. He is also responsible for organising this year’s camp at Hudswell Grange, Catterick. Like Mr Hall, he liaises closely with the cadets, NCO’s especially to ensure they are working effectively as a team.
